CRNI Certified Registered Nurse Infusion Exam

INCC’s RN Examination Council, in conjunction with Applied Measurement Professionals, Inc . (AMP), is responsible for the development and administration of the Certified Registered Nursing Infusion Exam. It assess the candidate knowledge, skills, specialized experience in the area of infusion therapy. 

The examination fee ranges from $310 to $485 depending upon the membership of the candidate with Infusion Nursing Society(INS). After acheiving the certification, these nurses assist the doctors in administering patients suffering from severe illness.CRNI exam is conducted on all the week days except Sunday and holidays around the year during month of March and September.  The CRNI exam is administered at over 170 testing locations across US.

Eligibility For CRNI Certified Registered Nurse Infusion Exam

In order to apply for the Certified Registered Nurse Infusion Exam, candidate has to meet certain eligibility criteria:
1)Candidate should hold a current, valid RN license.
2)Candidate should have compeleter either bachelor’s degree or 2 year degree RNs
3)Candidate should have working experience of at least 1600 hours in the field of infusion nursing with in the past 2 years.

The CRNI certification provides a specialized level of practice in infusion therapy to patients. Hence candidate should be well prepared in below mentioned subject areas:

  • Technology and Clinical Applications ---- 38 questions 25.3%
  • Fluid and Electrolyte Therapy ---- 20 questions 13.3%
  • Pharmacology ---- 20 questions 13.3%
  • Infection Prevention ---- 20 questions 13.3%
  • Antineoplastic/Biologic Therapy ---- 16 questions 10.6%
  • Parenteral Nutrition ---- 10 questions 6.6%
  • Quality Improvement ---- 10 questions 6.6%
  • Pediatrics ---- 8 questions  5.3%
  • Transfusion Therapy ---- 8 questions 5.3%

Format Of CRNI Certified Registered Nurse Infusion Exam

It is a computer based testing examination. The CRNI exam consists of 170 multiple choice questions.  Out of which 150 questions are scored ones and rest are unscored questions. The examination content is based on technical aspect related to infusion therapy. Candidate is provided 3 hours to complete the exam.
