Eligibility For NBDE National Board Dental Examination

The eligibility condition for the NBDE exam is that individual candidate must have completed the dental degree accredited dental education program. A student of non accredited dental education program is also eligible to prepare for the examination. A former dental student no longer enrolled in the dental education program but has completed courses is also eligible. A dentist of the American dental association who is also active, life or retired member of the association is eligible. A dentist or graduate of the non accredited dental school is also eligible for the examination.

Format Of NBDE National Board Dental Examination

The format of the question paper for NBDE part I consists of 400 multiple choice questions from which 20% are interdisciplinary clinically focussed test-lets. The exam fee is $345. The topic subjects in the examination are anatomic sciences, biochemistry – physiology, microbiology – pathology, dental anatomy and occlusion. The examination passing score is 75. The NBDE part II paper fee is $390 and is undertaken by the prometric testing venues like the part I papers. There are 500 questions in all where 400 are multiple choice questions and 100 are patient problem case questions.
