Eligibility For Nutrition Support Clinicians

Those candidates who want to give this exam must complete the condition of two years experience in specialized nutrition support. The eligible candidates must also have completed application for certification examination of Nutrition support clinicians. Eligibility conditions require candidate to be registered dietitician with the commission on dietetic registration or the Canadian equivalent. Alternatively the candidate can also be a registered nurse licensed to practice in US and Canada. Physicians licensed as doctors of medicine MD or doctors of osteopathy (MO) in US or Canada are eligible. Pharmacists who are registered to practice in US or Canada or physician assistants with license in US or Canada are also eligible.

Format Of Nutrition Support Clinicians

This examination is computer based online test comprising of 250 multiple choice, objective questions with a testing time of four hours. This certification examination consists of nutrition assessment (19%), therapeutic plan of care (32%), initiation, monitoring and clinical management (33%), management of nutrition support outcomes (7%) and professional practice (9%). The questions test an individual’s expertise in specialized nutrition support and reviewed for construction, accuracy and appropriateness. This certification exam is conducted at 800 domestic and international locations. The fees for the examination are a total $ 305 for ASPEN members while it is $ 405 for Non ASPEN members. The results of the certification exam are provided within six weeks of taking the online exam.
